20 minutes prep time (less with prepackaged sauce and shredded cheese)
1.5 hours baking/cooling time

Ingredients

  • 1 box lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 8 oz of Swiss cheese, shredded, plus extra for topping
  • 16-ounce tub of cottage cheese
  • 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • Tomato sauce (26-ounce jar or equivalent homemade recipe)
  • 1 recipe of Bechamel from Mastering the Art of French Cooking

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375F.
  2. Coat a 9x13" pan with oil or butter.
  3. Mix together the cottage cheese and Swiss cheese, leaving at least 1 cup of Swiss cheese aside for the topping.
  4. Put a scoop of sauce into the bottom of the pan and spread it around.
  5. Place a layer of noodles to cover the bottom of the pan. Top with sauce, then the cottage cheese mixture, then sprinkle with Parmesan. Put in another layer starting with noodles etc. Then do a layer of noodles, topped with sauce, topped with the whole pan of Bechamel sauce. Top with one last layer of noodles, tomato sauce, and cheese - use enough cheese to cover the whole top of the lasagna.
  6. Cover the pan with foil, and bake for 30 minutes.
  7. Remove the foil, and bake for another 30 minutes., until top is golden or a little browned.
  8. Cool for a few minutes before serving.
