Spicy Broccoli with Golden Garlic Pasta

Ingredients

  • 1 lb broccoli, stalks chopped and head separated into florets
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • salt, black pepper
  • 1 lb dried pasta (shapes)

Directions

  1. Cook broccoli in a pan of boiling, salted water until just tender, 3-5 minutes. Drain.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet.
  3. Add garlic and cook over medium high heat, stirring frequently, until just golden, 2 minutes.
  4. Add drained broccoli and red pepper flakes and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5 minutes.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Meanwhile, cook pasta in a large pot of boiling, salted water, until firm to the bite.
  7. Drain pasta and return to the pot.
  8. Toss pasta with the sauce.
  9. Serve immediately.
