Bake at 350F for 10 to 12 minutes.

Makes 8 to 10 dozen cookies.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/3 cups sifted all purpose flour (400g)
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup butter (250g)
  • 1 cup sugar (200g)
  • 1/2 cup "Gold Label" Molasses
  • 1 cup blanched almonds slivers (120g)

Directions

Sift flour with ginger, soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Cream butter. Gradually add sugar, creaming well. Blend in molasses. Add dry ingredients gradually; mix well. Stir in almonds.

Divide dough in half. Shape into rolls, 8 inches long. Wrap in wax paper; chill several hours or overnight. Cut into 1/8 inch slices; place on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake at 350F for 10 to 12 minutes.

Notes

"Gold Label" Molasses is a specific type molasses. I usually use salted butter and leave out the 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
