Ingredients

  • 1.25 cups water
  • 1.25 cups maple syrup
  • 16 ounces of fresh cranberries
  • 1.25 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 generous dash of lemon juice
  • 1.25 Tbsp brandy or Canadian whiskey

Directions

  1. Combine water and syrup in a saucepan and bring to a boil
  2. Add the cranberries to the mixture and cook at a boil until the berries begin to pop (10-15 minutes)
  3. Stir in brown sugar and lemon juice until brown sugar is completely dissolved, then mix in the brandy

Notes

A staple at our Canadian Thanksgiving dinner (second Monday of October). We use Canadian whiskey in place of the brandy and Oli says more is usually better, within reason.
